Rob is currently Assistant Secretary and Head of DAFM laboratories, responsible for DAFM’s laboratory network, which is an essential component of the department’s One Health business area and play a significant part in safeguarding the food-chain. The Laboratories are located at purpose-built facilities on the Backweston campus in Co. Kildare and at seven other regional locations across Ireland., As Assistant Secretary Rob sits on the DAFM management board assisting the department to deliver on its mission statement, “to serve the government and people of Ireland by leading, developing and regulating the agri-food sector, protecting public health and optimising social, economic and environmental benefits.” Previous roles include Veterinary Director responsible for Animal health and welfare, Import controls, veterinary export certification, and animal identification and movement. Rob has a veterinary degree awarded by University College Dublin and a Masters qualification in Innovation awarded by Magee Business School, Ulster University. |
